I’m asking this question about anxiety because for the past 15 years I would say 90% of the people I’ve treated in person or now virtually have said they felt anxious.

I truly feel that physical, emotional, and spiritual pain can cause anxiety but also not having a bowel movement.

In the past, I’ve mentioned that our thoughts create emotions and those emotions send messages to our cells. Thoughts of fear, anger, frustration, anxiety etc…create a change in the environment of our cells.

When this occurs our biochemistry changes and stress hormones get poured into our gut which in turn sends messages to our brain. This is called the Gut and Brain Axis.

What Are Ways That We Can Reduce Anxiety?

There are many ways such as: meditation, walking, jiggling, jumping up and down on a mini trampoline, laughing...

However, for me I love to go straight to the gut so these are my three favorite ways:

  1. Have a bowel movement the size of a banana every day at least once a day- The most important way to get rid of toxins from our body is by pooping ?. Check out my clock-wise abdominal massage to get you going at youcanhealtoo.com
  2. Diaphragm release- The diaphragm is a muscle sheet that separates the chest cavity from the abdominal cavity. Apply gentle hand pressure at the space in your upper belly where your sternum ends between the ribs. The diaphragm is metaphysically considered the anxiety region.
  3. Deep breathing- Deep breaths allow the diaphragm to drop down and massage the intestines and pelvic floor. This stimulates the intestines to wake up and create a better bowel movement. Also, it puts us back into the relaxing rest and digest mode.
